Happy Fandescript Friday! Are you on your own personal quest or adventure? I ask this not as a question for you to answer to me but more of an inward search and consideration. As a writer of fiction and a lover of myths and stories, often I find inspiration in the tales of old concerning individuals who stood against insurmountable odds and had great difficulty in getting their goals accomplished. Whether it was to secure some ancient relic or to save a damsel in distress or for some other mattter, the deck was stacked against them in all forms. Enemies with greater powers and strength than theirs, hard environments to navigate, grueling terrain or situations to battle along with personal and internal conflicts...these are but a few of the hardships many characters (heroes and heroines) encountered in some of the most beloved tales. How are you navigating your journey, hero or heroine? We are all such depending upon who is asked of our consideration. Another person's hero is another one's villain and vice versa. Nevertheless, consider your own tale in this question? How is your armor? Your weapons of war? Do you have your mystical map or guidance into the dangers of the wild that await you? Are you in need of refreshing from some fabled brook of eternal strength or do you need a good rest in some tavern or inn? We are all on a journey. A quest of sorts if you will. Whether we like it or not, it is the great story of our lives as it is our lives we speak of. Fortunes await to be claimed and destiny is callign to be answered. There are struggles to battle and engage in as well as possible supporting characters who may give us aid in our expedition. Villains and opposition does abound, yes, but that is to be given. Despite all of these things, the ebb and flow of good times and bad, it is important for you as the hero or heroine in your own story to refresh yourself along your journey. To find things that feed your heart and soul along the way as you battle evil or just deal with this mysterious thing called life, with all of its paradise and perils. How are you sowing back into yourself after every battle you win or lose daily? Are you kind to yourself in the midst of your wars? Do you reflect on past accomplishments and or failures? If so, how do you do it? In finding answers to these questions or attempting to, I titled this blog "The Quest is to be Revered" due to the nebulous place we all are searching for called "there". When I make it "there" this will be good or great, meaning whatever station or final goal you are looking for in life or in writing will make it mean all the more once it is accomplished and done. Lessons along the way are to be chereished and held close as we are taught and told. Often it is difficult to accept such things as we all are looking for better days and things in our stories (life goals, writing, personal, etc) to help make us what we desire to be. I wonder once we reach the end of the "there" we are looking to attain, will we truly be set? There is no golden age nor era of pax eternia here on this side of the river that we can claim as ours, as nothing is permanant. Things indeed do change and we have the decision to change with them or not. Another one of the challenges in life and along the quest we are all involved in. So they say the journey is to held in high regards and not the final destination. I'm still at odds with it, personally as a writer and a creator. Either position could be taken in my opinion. In the end, I say take each day to the max and not worry about the journey or the end result. Do the best you can with what you have and make everyday your best day in whatever goals you present yourself to be found in whether business wise or personal. The longer we look at Cair Paraval, Minas Tirith, Neverland, Atlantis or any other literary comparisons of grandeur from our points of view in the valley, mountains, or the dregs of the pits, the further away it will seem to us. On the contrary, keep writing, keep dreaming and keep creating daily and take time to replenish your strength amidst the skirmishes and wars. Keep your head down working and moving forward daily and before you know it, you too will reach the Wakanda of your goals and ambitions, one day at a time. To you hero or heroine, wherever you are in this stage of your life, I raise my sword and pen to you in salute. Keep creating! Until next time, the pages await you!

Happy Fandescript Friday! To add along, Happy Friday the 13th! This is one of my favorite days as I like the number 13. The many superstitions and myths that are tied to the number as well as other things associated with it, make for a great addition as to why I enjoy this day. As a writer, I am fascinated by subjects that are tied to mystery, the strange, and the odd things in life. To have a love or a liking for the number 13 is known as "triskaidekaphilia." If you look carefully, you can see this in the stories i write, particularly in The Highway Gray. What elements of this have you found in my book? Be sure to leave them in the blog comments. As this number has been affiliated with bad luck and omens, there are some rather interesting things that can be learned about this number and its role in history throughout the ages. There is a biblical reference to number 13: "The Last Supper" The number 13 also reminds us of the 13 diners at The Last Supper. Judas, who betrayed Jesus Christ, was the 13th guest to arrive as it was his betrayal that Jesus was arrested and crucified. Ethiopia follows a 13-month calendar. Most countries use the Western Georgian calendar, which has 12 months, but interestingly, Ethiopia follows a calendar with 13 months. The year has 12 months with 30 days, and the 13th month usually has five days five. However, one more day is added in a leap year, making it six days and six months. In the British TV series “Doctor Who,” Jodie Whittaker portrays the Thirteenth Doctor. In the British TV series “Doctor Who,” Jodie Whittaker portrays the Thirteenth Doctor.Jodie Whittaker made history as the first woman to play the Doctor in the iconic British sci-fi series “Doctor Who.” She was introduced as the Thirteenth Doctor in 2017, bringing a fresh perspective to the long-running character. Her portrayal has been praised for its energy, warmth, and humor, attracting both new fans and long-time followers of the show. The number 13, often associated with change and transformation, marked a significant shift in the series’ history. The 13th floor of the buildings is given another name. The Atlantic studied buildings with 13 or more floors. Out of 629 buildings, only 55 were labeled on the 13th floor as the 13th. Only 9 percent of buildings are named on the 13th floor. The remaining 91 percent renamed the floor. The 13th full moon is called the blue moon. It can be seen roughly every two and a half years, but did you know some interesting, fun facts about the number 13? A lunar eclipse occurs when the reflected light from the moon is blocked by something before reaching the earth’s surface. The color of white changes to blue. Once in a blue moon refers to the rarest events. To accompany this blog, I have included some other research on Friday the 13th for your review. Enjoy what you learn and enjoy the weekend! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_the_13th Until next time, the pages await you! One of my favorite writers is Edgar Allen Poe as I enjoy his writing style. His wordplay and story-telling style I find to be very inspiring and imaginative as it evokes many things in readers and writers alike. I take this time to share with you some facts about one of literature's greatest writers and one of my many references. Enjoy. Greetings and welcome to Folio---the blog of Fandescript! Happy Fandescript Friday! I hope your week was adventurous! What perils have you faced? Any giants or great enemies you conquered? Whatever and wherever your quest led you, congratulations on your achievements and continue on with your journey. If you’ve made it this far, chances are you’ve got questions — about the world behind the stories, the inspiration behind them, or just what I was thinking when I unleashed that opportunity on The Drifter in page 8 of The Highway Gray. This FAQ is here to pull back the curtain (just a little). Whether you’re a first-time reader, a returning fan, or someone trying to figure out more about me as a writer — you’re in the right place. Below you will find answers about:
God and my experiences in life that I've either lived or dreamed about, as in daydreams or my imagination. There are many influences that I've drawn on when creating the worlds, characters, and sagas/adventures readers engage in. I enjoy story/world building, fictional characters, and mythologies found in various franchises from video games, vintage cartoons/80's tv shows and others. Among authors, I am inspired by Edgar Allen Poe and C.S Lewis, along with their individual works of literature. 2. What genres do you write in? I explore other forms of fiction such as steampunk, westerns, science fiction and more but I write primarily in fiction, suspense, and thrillers — blending mystery, high epic and allegorical fantasy, along with the creation of fictional mythologies with world building, cultural creation, and other elements 3. Are your books connected in a shared universe? Yes. Most of my stories exist in a loosely connected universe or universes where they interact and play within the existance and/or co-existance of other characters, backstories, and ever changing circumstances. If you read carefully and look for clues within the stories, you will be able to see linked roles and possible foreshadowing of clues that are tied into behind-the-scenes actions. Some of my characters and events overlap and play apart in the next set of stories, despite the chnage of genre it could be in (western to Afrofuturism, crime thriller to high epic adventure, etc), Despite this fact, each book can be read as a standalone. 4. Where can I find updates or behind-the-scenes content? You can sign up for my newsletter at www.fandescript.com/about or follow me on Instagram/Twitter @fandescript. I also occasionally share concepts, lore building and other components of my stories. If you have any other questions for me, please email them and I will respond accordingly plus post them, along with the answers here. Until next time, the pages await you! Happy Fandescript Friday! How have you won this week? When I say won, I reference any personal triumphs or celebrations you can call to memory. Like the heroes and heroines of myth and fables, we too are buffeted by the trials and hardships of our times. Granted we may not have a cyclops or a chimera to destroy in search of a golden fleece or some archaic relic of ancient power, but the "monsters" that we face are not just on Maple Street (wink wink Twilight Zone) but are encountered daily. Just like those main characters in our favorite fiction tales, from Aslan to Zorro, we too are forced to battle the forces of evil and engage the fates. How we handle our situations depends upon our own hearts and inner strength. What stores of inner resolve have you built up in your heart, if any? Are there any habits or self-guided practices you do to ensure your own survival amidst hard times? Inspiration can be found in odd spaces and places. Are there any literary characters that you find a kindred spirit in that you can liken your own life to? Are you too like Frodo, battling the inner storms of your heart to do what is right in what you have been tasked to accomplish? Perhaps you find yourself between the borders of right and wrong, walking the thin line confronting fears after battling traumas of your past like Anakin Skywalker. Do you find your heart caught between duty and reputation, battling the voices of your own morality like Jon Snow? These examples of great literature and solid character building concepts are what make stories so relatable to us as readers and even fans of the brands/writers that have created them. All tell of commonn struggles that we each have faced or are facing at some point and time in our lives, despite our backgrounds. It is this formulae that draws us in as observers of the hero's struggle and what they defeat and in some cases...what defeats them. Whether it be ancient evil or the cause and effect of entertaining their own thoughts and vices to a most bitter and unresolved end, we are the characters of our own story. Be it tragedy, comedy, adventure, or horror, you are both main and supporting character. The observers, those who are looking or "reading" your story or life could be any who are a part of it. Family, friends, or foes. Only you decide how the page will end. Only you can make the choice. Whatever your decisions and whereever they may lead you, I pray your choices and story is sound and one for the ages, inspiring others and giving hope to those who have none. No matter where you are on your journey, I encourage you to keep going. Fight the Balrog and conquer the Mount Doom's in your path. Engage in your own battle to defeat the shadows of your past, whether they carry laser swords or not. Seek wisdom above all else forsaking dragons, old deeds, and Dothrakhi, then cling to the destiny of your fathers. You may not be a halfling, a Jedi, or a King of the North, but you are a character...and you have a story to tell. Make it a good one and who knows...maybe one day there will be songs, sonnets, and sayings told of you and your exploits to inspire, encourage, or forewarn the next generation of readers and writers. All we have is today. All we have is right now. Until next time, the pages await you! "All who find this page are welcome here — be ye seeker, dreamer, or wanderer near. Some stories may inspire you to dream and contemplate different subject matter within your own life while othes may evoke wonder, fear, love and a host of various feelings! Are you ready!? The stories that create a deep connection within us as readers or lovers of fiction are the best ones we often re-read and find a kindred spirit in, whether it be through the settings or characters presented. They allow us to dive deep into another world and get lost in the immersive multiverse of possibilities where our reality is as imaginative as we see fit. It is to that dream and desire, that I write and create stories along wth experiences that can be revisited as often as you, the reader, would like to.
Whether you have answered yes or no to any of the questions above, this is only the beginning. I encourage you to stay along for the ride as it will be one you won't soon forget!
