YOU, THE CHARACTER

Greetings and welcome to Folio---the blog of Fandescript! I thank you for taking time to visit my site today. Together, we are embarking on a series of great stories and adventures that will create all manner of emotions within us as we read and interact with the content provided. Some stories may inspire you to dream and contemplate different subject matter within your own life while othes may evoke wonder, fear, love and a host of various feelings! Are you ready!?

Happy Fandescript Friday! How have you won this week? When I say won, I reference any personal triumphs or celebrations you can call to memory. Like the heroes and heroines of myth and fables, we too are buffeted by the trials and hardships of our times. Granted we may not have a cyclops or a chimera to destroy in search of a golden fleece or some archaic relic of ancient power, but the "monsters" that we face are not just on Maple Street (wink wink Twilight Zone) but are encountered daily. Just like those main characters in our favorite fiction tales, from Aslan to Zorro, we too are forced to battle the forces of evil and engage the fates.

How we handle our situations depends upon our own hearts and inner strength. What stores of inner resolve have you built up in your heart, if any? Are there any habits or self-guided practices you do to ensure your own survival amidst hard times? Inspiration can be found in odd spaces and places. Are there any literary characters that you find a kindred spirit in that you can liken your own life to? Are you too like Frodo, battling the inner storms of your heart to do what is right in what you have been tasked to accomplish? Perhaps you find yourself between the borders of right and wrong, walking the thin line confronting fears after battling traumas of your past like Anakin Skywalker. Do you find your heart caught between duty and reputation, battling the voices of your own morality like Jon Snow?

These examples of great literature and solid character building concepts are what make stories so relatable to us as readers and even fans of the brands/writers that have created them. All tell of commonn struggles that we each have faced or are facing at some point and time in our lives, despite our backgrounds. It is this formulae that draws us in as observers of the hero's struggle and what they defeat and in some cases...what defeats them.  Whether it be ancient evil or the cause and effect of entertaining their own thoughts and vices to a most bitter and unresolved end, we are the characters of our own story. Be it tragedy, comedy, adventure, or horror, you are both main and supporting character. The observers, those who are looking or "reading" your story or life could be any who are a part of it. Family, friends, or foes. Only you decide how the page will end. Only you can make the choice.

Whatever your decisions and whereever they may lead you, I pray your choices and story is sound and one for the ages, inspiring others and giving hope to those who have none. No matter where you are on your journey, I encourage you to keep going. Fight the Balrog and conquer the Mount Doom's in your path. Engage in your own battle to defeat the shadows of your past, whether they carry laser swords or not. Seek wisdom above all else forsaking dragons, old deeds, and Dothrakhi, then cling to the destiny of your fathers. You may not be a halfling, a Jedi, or a King of the North, but you are a character...and you have a story to tell.

Make it a good one and who knows...maybe one day there will be songs, sonnets, and sayings told of you and your exploits to inspire, encourage, or forewarn the next generation of readers and writers. All we have is today. All we have is right now.

Until next time, the pages await you!
